EMA holds 51st annual medical conference

New executive committee appointed

The Ethiopian Medical Association held it 51st annual medical conference and medical exhibition on February 5 and 6, 2015 at the United Nations conference center in Addis Ababa.

 

The conference was attended by over a thousand members, invited guests, and local as well as international experts in the medical profession.

The association has honored individuals and institutions for their contributions to the development of the medical profession in Ethiopia and their support to the Ethiopian Medical Association. In addition, medical students from universities and colleges all over the country were awarded medal and certificates for outstanding performance.

Lectures on various timely issues in medicine were presented by local and international experts. The theme of this year’s conference was Health Research and Development.

The executive committee has stepped down and been replaced with new president and members of board elected during the general assemble business meeting on February 5. Dr. GemechisMamo was elected president of the Ethiopian Medical Association, while Dr. BerhanuNega was elected vice president and Dr. TewodrosTsegaye was elected general secretary.
